Honda Motor Co was founded in 1948, a time when the Japanese Market was decimated by World War II. Soichiro Honda using his manufacturing facilities attached an engine to a motorcycle allowing him to take advantage of a gap in the Japanese market by providing cheap and efficient transport in a time where fuel and money was scarce. During World War II Honda piston manufacturing facilities were almost completely destroyed, Soichiro Honda started a new company, Honda Research Institute Co Ltd, where Soichiro and asscociates continued to fit engines to bicycles. In 1958 the American Honda Co. was founded, Honda began to produce a range of scooters and motorcycles and Soichiro Honda quickly recovered from losses incurred during the World War II.Website: www.honda.com
